ANNOUNCEMENT OF A NEW INTERNATIONAL MATHEMATICS OF PLANET EARTH (MPE) COMPETITION

A second international MPE competition for science museum exhibits (modules) was announced at the Next Einstein Forum in Dakar, Senegal on March 10 2016.
The competition is organized jointly by Mathematics of Planet Earth (MPE), the International Basic Science Program (IBSP) at UNESCO, the International Mathematical Union (IMU), the International Commission of Mathematical Instruction (ICMI) and IMAGINARY. 

The modules submitted to the competition will enrich the virtual Open Source MPE Exhibition. They can be downloaded and adapted by science museums and schools and can serve as examples for inputs for the new competition. 

The deadline for the new MPE competition is June 30 2017, and the competition will be judged by an international jury.

The modules submitted can be of four types:
- Program: An interactive software exhibit to be used either on the web or in a museum.
- Hands-on: A module explaining how to realize a physical module in a museum.
- Film: A short video that can be shown in an exhibition.
- Image gallery: A collection of images accompanied of their mathematical description. 

Prizes: 
- First prize: 5000 USD
- Second prize: 2000 USD
- Third prize: 1000 USD

Special prize for African module: 2000 USD.

ANNONCE D'UNE NOUVELLE COMPÉTITION INTERNATIONALE MATHÉMATIQUES DE LA PLANÈTE TERRE (MPT) 

Une deuxième compétition internationale MPT de manipulations (modules) pour les musées scientifiques a été annoncée au 
Next Einstein Forum à Dakar au Sénégal le 10 mars 2016. La compétition est organisée conjointement par Mathématiques de la planète Terre (MPT), le Programme international en sciences fondamentales de (PISF) de l'UNESCO, l'Union mathématique internationale (UMI), la Commission internationale de l'enseignement mathématique (CIEM) et IMAGINARY. 

Les modules soumis à la compétition vont enrichir l'exposition MPT libre de droits (Open source). Les modules peuvent être téléchargés et adaptés par les écoles et les musées scientifiques. Ils donnent des exemples du type de contributions recherchées lors de la compétition. 

La date limite pour la nouvelle compétition MPT est le 30 juin 2017 et un jury international déterminera les gagnants. 

Les modules soumis peuvent être de quatre types :
- Programme : le module sera un logiciel interactif pouvant être utilisé sur le web ou sur un écran tactile dans un musée. 
- Manipulation : le module expliquera comment réaliser un module physique à manipuler dans un musée.
- Film : un court video pouvant être présenté dans une exposition.
- Galerie d'images : une collection d'images accompagnée de leur description mathématique.

Prix: 
- Premier prix : 5000 USD
- Deuxième prix : 2000 USD
- Troisième prix : 1000 USD

Prix spécial pour un module africain : 2000 USD
