University Faculty Awards (UFA) at UBC
The Mathematics Department at the University of British Columbia is
seeking to nominate at least one woman and/or Aboriginal candidate
for an NSERC University Faculty Award (UFA) in the Fall 2007
competition. A departmental nominee will have a strong research
record in a field that fits with the research interests of the
Department, as well as strong teaching qualifications. A successful
nominee would assume a tenure-track faculty position at the
appropriate rank to begin July 1, 2008, with a reduced teaching load
for the duration of the award. The University Faculty Award was
created by the Natural Science and Engineering Research Council to
encourage Canadian universities to appoint very promising women and/
or Aboriginal researchers to tenure-track positions in science and
engineering.
Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply on-line as described at:
http://www.math.ubc.ca/Dept/deptJobs.shtml#Apply
Alternatively, applicants may send a current CV including a list of
publications, statement of research and teaching interests, a
teaching dossier or similar record of teaching experience, and should
arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent directly to:
Chair, Departmental Committee on Appointments
Department of Mathematics, #121-1984 Mathematics Road
University of British Columbia
Vancouver, BC, Canada, V6T 1Z2
In order to ensure full consideration, applications and supporting
material, including letters of recommendation, should be received by
September 14, 2007.
In accordance with NSERC regulations for the awards, an applicant
must be female and/or Aboriginal and must be a Canadian citizen or a
permanent resident of Canada. An applicant must either hold a
doctorate degree, or have completed all the requirements for such a
degree by the proposed appointment date.
Further information on the program can be found at the NSERC web page:
