Dear Colleagues,

This mail is to request proposals to host the 2nd CanaDAM
conference. As many of you probably know, the 1st Canadian
Discrete and Algorithmic Mathematics (CanaDAM) Conference
took place in Banff during May 28-31, 2007. The CanaDAM
series of conferences will be held every Summer of the odd
years, thus alternating with the SIAM Discrete Mathematics
conference held in the even years. Indeed, the format of
CanaDAM is similar to the SIAM DM meetings, with an international
program committee and invited speakers, invited minisymposia
and contributed talks in all areas of discrete mathematics.
There are no published proceedings at either the CanaDAM
or SIAM DM conferences.

There were about 230 participants at the first CanaDAM with
at least 36 Canadian Universities from all 10 provinces
represented at the meeting, and over one third of the
participants were students and PDFs. The program included
about 180 research talks. For more details about the 1st
CanaDAM conference please check:

http://www.cs.ualberta.ca/~mreza/CANADAM/

We are now requesting proposals to host the 2nd CanaDAM during
the Summer of 2009. Please submit a brief proposal containing:

. Name and institutions of organizers, specifying the Chair of
   the Local Arrangements Committee.
. City and place where the conference will take place.
. Possible hotel or residence accommodations and projected costs.
. Proposed dates for the conference.
. And any other relevant information.

Deadline for proposal submission: September 30, 2007.
If some issues cannot be resolved by that time, please
indicate your possibilities and expectations.

Announcement of the location of the next CanaDAM: October 31, 2007.

Submit proposals by email (.pdf preferred) to: canadam at mitacs.ca

Note that as with the 1st CanaDAM and the SIAM DM conferences,
the contents of the conference will be decided by an international
Program Committee.

As with the 1st CanaDAM, we hope to receive financial support
from the three mathematical institutes (CRM, Fields and PIMS)
as well as MITACS. Some of these sources are targeted towards
graduate students and PDFs.

Given that the 1st CanaDAM was held in the West, preference
will be given to a host location in Eastern Canada. Traditional
SIAM DM dates are late May or early June and we expect to have
the conference as close to these dates as possible.

Even if you have already communicated with the CanaDAM Executive
Committee your desire to hold the next CanaDAM, we would
appreciate it if you would submit a proposal.

Best regards,
The Executive Committee of CanaDAM*

Members of the Executive Committee for CanaDAM 2009:
Jason Brown, Pavol Hell, Odile Marcotte, Ortrud Oellermann,
Daniel Panario (Chair) and Bruce Richter.
