The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Windsor 
is seeking to nominate a candidate for a Natural Science and Engineering 
Research Council (NSERC) University Faculty Award in the area of Pure 
Mathematics or Optimization Theory with the ability to contribute to the 
development of a strong and cohesive PhD program in Mathematics.  The 
position is contingent upon success in the NSERC UFA competition. A 
successful nominee would assume a tenure-track position in the Department 
at the rank of Assistant Professor commencing May 1, 2008. This position 
is subject to final budgetary approval.

The University Faculty Award was created by NSERC to encourage 
universities in Canada to appoint very promising Canadian women and 
Aboriginal researchers in science and engineering to tenure-track

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics research areas include 
Statistics, Optimization Theory, Algebra, Analysis, and Applied 
Mathematics.  There are excellent opportunities for collaboration with 
researchers in Economics, Engineering, Business Administration, Computer 
Science and Physics.  In addition to a PhD degree in Statistics and a 
Masters degree in Mathematics and Statistics, the department is building 
faculty strength in areas to support the reinstatement and growth of its 
doctoral program in Mathematics.  At the undergraduate level, the 
Department offers Bachelor of Mathematics programs in Mathematics, 
Mathematics and Statistics, and Mathematics and Computer Science as well 
as a multi-disciplinary Bachelor of Operational Research program.  There 
is a strong tradition of excellence in teaching at all levels, and several
