CRM-Fields-PIMS Prize Call for Nominations 2006

The Centre de recherches mathématiques (CRM), the Fields Institute, and 
the Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences (PIMS) invite 
nominations for the joint CRM-Fields-PIMS prize, in recognition of 
exceptional research achievement in the mathematical sciences. The 
candidate's research should have been conducted primarily in Canada or 
in affiliation with a Canadian university. The prize was established as 
the CRM-Fields prize in 1994. Renamed in 2005, the 2006 and later prizes 
will be awarded jointly by all three institutes. Previous recipients are 
H.S.M. Coxeter, George A. Elliott, James Arthur, Robert Moody, Stephen 
A. Cook, Israel Michael Sigal, William T. Tutte, John Friedlander, John 
McKay, Edwin Perkins, Donald Dawson, David Boyd, and Nicole 
Tomczak-Jaegermann. The selection committee formed by the three 
institutes will select a recipient for the 2006 prize on the basis of 
outstanding contributions to the advancement of the mathematical 
sciences, with excellence in research as the main selection criterion. A 
$10,000 prize will be awarded and the recipient will be asked to present 
a lecture at each of CRM, the Fields Institute, and PIMS. Nominations 
should be submitted by November 1, 2006 by at least three sponsors of 
recognized stature, and should include the following elements: three 
supporting letters, curriculum vitae, list of publications, and up to 
four preprints. During any academic year, at most one prize will be 
awarded. Last year's nominees will be automatically considered.


Prix CRM-Fields-PIMS Appel de Candidatures 2006

Le Centre de recherches mathématiques (CRM), l'Institut Fields et 
l'Institut des Sciences Mathématiques du Pacifique (PIMS) ouvrent les 
candidatures au prix conjoint CRM-Fields-PIMS. Ce prix récompense des 
réalisations exceptionnelles en sciences mathématiques. Les travaux de 
recherche du lauréat devront avoir été réalisés principalement au Canada 
ou en affiliation avec une université canadienne. Le prix a été créé 
sous l'étiquette CRM-Fields en 1994. Il est devenu le prix 
CRM-Fields-PIMS en 2005 et est attribué conjointement par les trois 
instituts depuis 2006. Les lauréats précédents ont été H.S.M. Coxeter, 
George A. Elliott, James Arthur, Robert Moody, Stephen A. Cook, Israel 
Michael Sigal, William T. Tutte, John Friedlander, John McKay, Edwin 
Perkins, Donald Dawson, David Boyd et Nicole Tomczak-Jaegermann. Le 
comité de sélection formé par les trois instituts choisira le lauréat du 
prix 2006 en s'appuyant sur les contributions exceptionnelles réalisées 
pour l'avancement des sciences mathématiques. L'excellence en recherche 
sera le principal critère de sélection. Un prix de 10 000$ sera remis au 
lauréat et on lui demandera de présenter une conférence à chacun des 
trois instituts. Les dossiers de candidature doivent etre soumis avant 
le 1er novembre 2006, et parrainés par trois scientifiques de renom. Ils 
doivent inclure les éléments suivants: trois lettres d'appui, un 
curriculum vitae, la liste des publications et jusqu'à quatre 
prépublications. Au plus un prix sera attribué par année academique. Les 
candidatures de l'année précédente seront automatiquement considérés.
