(Full-time Term Position)

The University of Northern British Columbia, in conjunction with the 
Mathematics Program, invites applications for one (with a potential for 
two) full-time Instructors for a nine-month term (subject to budgetary 
approval) with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2006. A 
determination will be made in 2007 concerning the possibility of 
additional spring/summer teaching. Applicants are expected to teach 
Calculus, Linear Algebra, Operations Research, Differential Equations, 
Numerical Analysis, and Statistics (aimed at students in the Biological 
Sciences).  Candidates in all areas of Mathematics and Statistics will be 
considered.  The successful candidate will have completed a doctoral 
degree in Mathematics or Statistics.  Applicants near completion of their 
PhD will also be considered.  Previous teaching experience would be 
considered an advantage.

The Mathematics Program has several mathematics majors (including double 
and joint majors with Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science and Economics). 
We also have a small graduate program (leading to a Master of Science 
degree). UNBC is located in Prince George (central British Columbia) which 
has a population of approximately 80,000. The university has a current 
student enrolment of 3,000 students.  The community has a rich cultural 
life with an excellent symphony orchestra, live theatre and a new art 
gallery.  Prince George provides easy access to world class outdoor 
recreation: canoeing, hiking, mountain biking, skiing, camping and 
fishing, all in close proximity to the city centre. On a clear day, the 
foothills of the majestic Rocky Mountains are visible from the University; 
both students and faculty enjoy more than fifty kilometres of trails that 
criss-cross the natural environment around campus.
