COMMERCIAL QUANTITATIVE ANALYST

The Opportunity
---------------

Simpson and Associates has been retained by our energy company client in 
Calgary to search for this Commercial Quantitative Analyst.

Reporting to the Director, Business Development - Energy Management Group, 
this position is responsible for providing analytical support to wholesale 
initiatives with this organization's retail business.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Providing commercial insight into and fundamental analysis of Canadian 
energy market developments;
- Providing quantitative analysis and evaluation of wholesale commodity 
and midstream asset positions as they relate to both gas and power;
- Assisting in the identification and quantification of wholesale risk in 
relation to the above; and
- Assisting in the analysis of the risk factors affecting the Retail 
Energy Sales Hedge Books of Gas and Power.

The Individual
--------------

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

- A post-graduate degree in Statistics, Finance, Math or related 
Quantitative study; A Ph.D would be desirable;
- <li>Some analytical experience in Energy or Financial Markets would be 
desirable.  Candidates with Postdoctoral research experience will certainly be considered;
- Ability to create, interpret and manipulate data and spreadsheet 
models;
- Highly proficient in Excel and other modeling tools; and
- Solid understanding of statistical models, probability analysis and 
value at Risk concepts.

Compensation:
------------

An attractive compensation package consisting of base salary and bonus 
awaits the successful candidate.
