CRM-ISM POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS 2006-2007

The Centre de recherches mathématiques (CRM) and the Institut des  
sciences mathématiques (ISM) invite applications for their joint  
postdoctoral fellowship program starting in September 2006.

CRM-ISM postdoctoral fellowships are awarded to promising researchers  
who have  recently obtained or expect to obtain a Ph.D. in the  
mathematical sciences. The fellowship offers an annual stipend of at  
least $36,000 CDN for one year, and is renewable for a second year.  
This is a research fellowship, allowing the recipient to devote all of  
his or her  time to research under the supervision of a professor from  
one of the ISM member universities (Concordia, Laval, McGill,  
Sherbrooke, Université de Montréal and UQAM). If fellows wish to teach,  
they may request to be offered teaching  assignments for which they  
will receive an additional salary.

Applications are welcome in all fields of research in which the CRM and  
the ISM are actively involved, namely: algebra, number theory,  
analysis, applied mathematics,  category theory, combinatorics,  
geometry and topology, mathematical physics, nonlinear dynamics,  
probability, statistics, and mathematical methods in medical imaging.  
In 2006-07, the CRM's theme year will be in combinatorics in a large  
sense (including relations to enumerative problems in algebraic and  
symplectic geometry, and to statistical physics).

BOURSES POSTDOCTORALES CRM-ISM 2006-2007

Le Centre de recherches mathématiques (CRM) et l'Institut des sciences  
mathématiques (ISM) sollicitent des candidatures dans le cadre de leur  
programme conjoint de bourses postdoctorales débutant en septembre  
2006.

Les bourses postdoctorales CRM-ISM sont attribuées à des chercheurs  
prometteurs qui ont récemment obtenu, ou qui obtiendront sous peu, leur  
doctorat en mathématiques. La bourse offre une rémunération d'au moins  
36 000$ CDN pour un an, renouvelable pour une deuxième année. Cette  
bourse de recherche permettra à son bénéficiaire de consacrer la  
majeure partie de son temps à ses travaux de recherche sous la  
supervision d'un professeur appartenant à l'une des universités membres  
de l'ISM (Concordia, Laval, McGill, Sherbrooke, Université de Montréal  
et UQAM). Si le boursier le désire, il pourra enseigner durant son  
stage et ainsi recevoir une rémunération supplémentaire.

Nous acceptons des demandes dans tous les domaines de recherche du CRM  
et de l'ISM, à savoir:  algèbre, analyse, combinatoire, dynamique  
non-linéaire, géométrie et topologie,  mathématiques appliquées,  
méthodes mathématiques en imagerie médicale, physique mathématique,  
probabilités, statistique, théorie des catégories, et théorie des  
nombres. Notez toutefois que l'année thématique 2006-2007 du CRM  
portera sur la combinatoire au sens large (incluant le problème  
d'énumération en géométries algébrique et symplectique ainsi que la  
physique statistique).
