WILFRID LAURIER UNIVERSITY
Department of Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics invites applications for two tenure-track
positions to begin July 1, 2006, subject to budgetary approval.

The first position is at the rank of Assistant Professor. Candidates whose
research is in areas of Departmental focus, including mathematical
modelling, financial mathematics, mathematical physics and pure
mathematics, will be given priority.

The second position is at the rank of Assistant professor, although the
appointment may be at a higher rank, and possibly with tenure, depending
on qualifications. The successful candidate's primary research interest
will be in an area of stochastic analysis, supporting the Department's
programs in financial mathematics and applied mathematics.

Applicants should have a PhD, evidence of commitment to and superior
ability in teaching, and an active program of research with strong
potential for external funding. For an appointment at a higher level,
candidates must have an internationally-recognized research program with a
record of attracting external funding. The Mathematics Department is a
dynamic part of Laurier's Faculty of Science, with leading researchers in
many areas including a Tier I Canada Research Chair in Mathematical
Modelling, and a SHARCNET Chair in Financial Mathematics.

Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, research plan, copies of
recent publications and a teaching dossier (including teaching
evaluations), and arrange for three letters of reference to be sent to:
Dr. David C. Vaughan, Chair, Department of Mathematics, Wilfrid Laurier
University, Waterloo, Ontario N2L 3C5. Candidates should specify which of
the two positions they applying for.

Deadline for applications is October 1, 2005, but applications received
after this date may be considered until the position is filled. More
information about the Department and its programs may be found at
http://www.wlu.ca/homepage.php?grp_id=43.

The university is committed to employment equity and welcomes applications
from all qualified women and men, including persons in a visible minority,

Canadian immigration requirements, priority will be given to Canadian
citizens and permanent residents.
