Winners of the 2005 PIMS Education Prizes

The Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences is pleased to
announce that David Leeming (University of Victoria) and Jim Morrow
(University of Washington) are the two winners of the PIMS 2005
Education Prizes.

David Leeming is a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Mathematics
and Statistics at the University of Victoria.  He cares deeply about
education and is extremely effective in his efforts to promote it.

Jim Morrow is a  Professor of Mathematics at the University of
Washington.  Through his numerous outreach programmes he has brought
the excitement of mathematics and its applications to countless high
school and undergraduate students.

The awards will be presented at a special PIMS Education Day to be
held at the University of Victoria on June 1.  Each prize is CAD
$1000.  The prizes were selected by the PIMS Executive Committee which
is composed of the PIMS Site Directors.
