Please alert your female graduate students to the following opportunity:

The CMS Committee for Women in Mathematics, in cooperation with the 
Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences (PIMS) and the Banff 
International Research Station (BIRS) is organizing a workshop for women 
graduate students in the mathematical sciences at Canadian universities, 
which will take place at the Banff International Research Station, Banff, 
Alberta, from July 21-23, 2005.

Format:  Thirty women will be selected to participate in the workshop, on 
the basis of their applications. They will be attending plenary talks in 
mathematics, and panel and small group discussions. Each participant will 
be expected to give a 20 min. presentation on their research interests or 
present a poster.


Eligibility: Women graduate students in the mathematical sciences at 
Canadian universities are invited to apply through the website:

All applications should include:
 	A statement of interest (max.500 words)
 	A title and short abstract of their talk (max. 100 words)
      	At least one letter of support, including one from the student's 
supervisor. Letters should be send by email to the chair of the organizing 
committe, Judith McDonald, at jmcdonald at math.wsu.edu, with CWiMaC and the 
applicant's name on the subject line. The deadline for applications is May 
15th, 2005. Selected participants will be notified by May 21st, 2005.

Registration fee: $50

Accommodation:
Participants and organizers will be staying at the Banff International 
Research Station (BIRS).  Accepted participants will be contacted by BIRS 
with further information. All the rooms at this residence are single rooms 
with shared bath. Accommodation is provided by BIRS.

Le Comité des femmes en mathématiques de la SMC, en collaboration avec 
l'Institut du Pacifique pour les sciences mathématiques (PIMS) et la 
Station de recherche internationale de Banff (SRIB), organisent un atelier 
destiné aux étudiantes en mathématiques des cycles supérieurs inscrites 
dans une université canadienne, qui se déroulera à la SRIB, à Banff 
(Alberta), du 21 au 23 juillet 2005.

Format :
Trente femmes seront choisies pour participer à l'atelier, d'après leur 
demande d'inscription. Elles assisteront à des plénières sur les 
mathématiques et prendront part à des tables rondes ou à des groupes de 
discussion. On demandera à chacune des participantes de présenter 
brièvement (20 min.) ses intérêts de recherche ou de présenter une 
affiche.

Critères d'admission :
On invite les étudiantes en mathématiques des cycles supérieurs inscrites 
dans une université canadienne à s'inscrire sur:

Toutes les demandes comprendront :
 	Un énoncé d'intérêt (max. 500 mots)
 	Le titre et un bref résumé de leur présentation (max. 100 mots)

thèse de l'étudiante. Faire parvenir ces lettres par courriel à la 
présidente du comité organisateur, Judith McDonald, à

comme objet du message.

Date limite d'inscription : 15 mai 2005. Les étudiantes choisies seront 
avisées au plus tard le 21 mai 2005.

Hébergement :
Participantes et organisatrices seront hébergées à la Station de recherche 
internationale de Banff. Les étudiantes choisies seront avisées par la 
SRIB, qui leur transmettra d'autres renseignements. Toutes les chambres de 
cette résidence sont pour une personne avec salle de bain partagée. 
L'hébergement est fourni par SRIB.
