Senior Laboratory Instructor in Mathematics, Competition # UOIT04-05

In keeping with a technology-enhanced learning environment utilizing laptop
computers and wireless connectivity, the University of Ontario Institute of
Technology seeks faculty who strive to explore and develop new
pedagogies. Science courses are currently taught using tablet computers, and
there is an array of state-of-the-art software on the student laptops,

The School of Science invites applications for a position of Senior
Laboratory Instructor in Mathematical Science, to start in May 2004.

The successful candidate will be responsible, under the direction of the Dean
of Science, for the general organization of tutorial classes associated with
undergraduate mathematics, computational science, computing science, and
statistics courses under the purview of the Faculty of Science, the training
and supervision of teaching assistants for these classes, teaching some
tutorial sessions, developing instructional materials, grading assignments
and tests, and appropriate course lecturing. The Senior Lab Instructor will
consult regularly with faculty members about course development and content,
in particular with respect to UOIT's web-centric and laptop-enhanced learning
environments. Applicants should possess at least an MSc degree (PhD
preferred) and relevant experience. Salary will be commensurate with
qualifications and experience.
