Andre Bandrauk, holder of the Canada Research Chair in
Computational Chemistry at Universite de Sherbrooke and a long-time
member of the CRM, received the John-C.-Polanyi Award from NSERC,
jointly with Paul Corkum from NRC for their exceptional contributions
in the foundation of the new attosecond science on imaging and
control of electrons at molecular scale. This award, named after the
Canadian Nobel Prize winner in 1986, coincides with the project
launched last year by the CRM to set up a Thematic semester on
Imaging in Fall 2009, part of which will explore the mathematical
challenges of Molecular imaging at the attosecond scale, organized by
A. Bandrauk and M. Ivanov, director of the theoretical group at the
Steacie Institute (NRC, Ottawa).

See the NSERC link, updated this month, March 2008, that
describes the impressive works of these two researchers

Let us mention that another close member of the CRM, Gilles
Brassard from Universite de Montreal, was one of the three finalists,
for the second time, for the NSERC Herzberg Medal, awarded this year
to ... John C. Polanyi.

Sorry for the multipostage.
