[grad-students] CMS Student Committee Member Search

The CMS Student Committee is looking for proactive mathematics students
interested in building a dynamic community for Canadian mathematics
students. The Committee wishes to fill vacancies in its membership,
including the web master, a student representative
from Atlantic Canada, and a general member position.
 
For the position of webmaster the duties include:
- Maintaining and updating the content on the Studc website (http://www.cms.math.ca/Students/)-
- Adding links to the Knot a Braid of Links cool math site of the week service (http://camel.math.ca/Kabol/)
- Moderating the student listservs, as well as actively forwarding relevant content to them
-Moderating the Studc webform (http://www.studc.com/forum)
The webmaster must be able to code basic HTML and be familiar with an sftp client.
Basic knowledge of unix is an asset.
 
For the other positions, all students are encouraged to apply and will be considered though we are particularly interested in a student with graphic design experience, someone willing to serve as the MITACS liaison and an undergraduate with experience working with student groups. If any of these apply to you, please mention them on the application.

Among the Student Committee's current projects are: publishing a national
student newsletter, developing a resource Web site for students, helping the
CUMC in preparing its proceedings, supporting local student math conferences
and seminars.

The Committee members' terms will run from August 1, 2007 to June 30, 2009.
Both graduate and undergraduate students are invited and encouraged to
apply.

Joining the student committee is an excellent opportunity to learn about how
mathematics in Canada is organized, to meet students and professors from
across the country, to do some meaningful work, and to have a great time! In
addition, student members will receive funding (both travel and
accommodations) to attend the next four CMS meetings, taking place in
London (Ontario), Montreal, Ottawa and Vancouver.

Le Comité étudiant de la SMC recherche des étudiants actifs en
mathématiques intéressés à aider à bâtir une communauté dynamique pour
les étudiants en mathématiques au Canada.   Le Comité étudiant veut
combler les postes vacants suivants: un(e) Webmestre Étudiant(e), un(e) représentant(e) des province Atlantiques, et un(e) représentant(e) additionnel(le) provenant de n'importe quel endroit au Canada.
