Number theory with a view toward Transcendence and Diophantine
Approximation

Sponsors: The Fields Institute for Research in Mathematical
Sciences and the University of Ottawa

Location and date: University of Ottawa, June 8–10, 2013
Abstract: Michel Waldschmidt, a pioneer of Transcendental
Number Theory, will receive
an honourary doctorate from the University of Ottawa on June 11,
2013. This
three-day workshop celebrates Michel Waldschmidt’s work, gathering
number
theory researchers from the Montreal-Toronto area. Some emphasis
will be
given to Diophantine approximation, but many other areas of number
theory
will be represented, ranging from algebraic to analytic number
theory.
