<p class=MsoNormal style='text-align:justify'>MITACS is soliciting proposals
for new seed projects. Seed projects are expected to span 18 months. Typically,
seed projects involve 2-6 faculty members at one or more Canadian universities,
1-3 partner organizations, and total annual budgets of $45K-$75K (of which
$30K-$50K is provided by MITACS and the remaining 33% is provided by the
partner organization(s)). These projects must show potential to grow into
full-scale large projects and are expected to apply for full-scale status at
their conclusion. All projects must obtain non-NCE partner funds before MITACS
funds are released. MITACS is primarily interested in projects within its
current theme areas. However the overall merit of the project carries the
highest priority and projects in potentially new application areas are also
encouraged.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class=MsoNormal style='text-align:justify'>Submissions should be sent by
email to mitacs@mitacs.ca and arrive by <b>May 1, 2009</b> to be eligible in
this competition. New projects will be selected from these on the
recommendation of the Research Management Committee, with an announcement of
the selection and funding levels planned for October 2009, after approval of
the MITACS Board of Directors. Projects chosen by the MITACS Research
Management Committee (RMC) are expected to start on October 1, 2009. <o:p></o:p></p>

actuellement des propositions de nouveaux projets de démarrage. Les projets de
démarrage doivent s’étendre sur 18 mois. En règle générale, chaque projet
regroupe entre deux et six professeurs en provenance d’une ou plusieurs
universités canadiennes, en collaboration avec un à trois organismes

que ces projets aient le potentiel de devenir des projets majeurs. À la fin du
cycle de démarrage de ces projets, il est attendu qu’une demande en vue de
passer à la catégorie des projets majeurs soit déposée. Tous les projets
doivent obtenir des fonds auprès de partenaires extérieurs aux RCE avant que
les fonds MITACS ne soient versés. MITACS s’intéresse avant tout aux projets
qui entretiennent un lien avec ses thèmes actuels. Toutefois, nous accordons la
plus grande importance au mérite global de chaque projet et invitons donc
également les propositions de projets liés à de nouveaux domaines
d’application.</span><span lang=FR-CA><o:p></o:p></span></p>

Les nouveaux projets seront sélectionnés en fonction des recommandations
du Comité de gestion de la recherche et l’annonce des résultats du concours
ainsi que des niveaux de financement projetés pour octobre 2009 sera faite
après que le Conseil d’administration de MITACS aura donné son approbation. Les
projets retenus par le Comité de gestion de la recherche de MITACS devront
