The Canadian Mathematical Society (CMS), a not-for-profit registered
charity, has an immediate opening for a dynamic and experienced,
individual committed to quality service and capable of undertaking a
diverse range of communication and fundraising functions.  The
successful candidate will be responsible for the effective and timely
communication with CMS stakeholders and the public, publication
production, and program administration. This important position requires
a self-motivated individual who is constantly seeking new opportunities,
contacting, and following up sources and providing feedback to existing
sponsors with minimum supervision.

This is a permanent full-time (35 hours per week) position and salary is
dependent on education, proven experience and skill level.  The CMS
offers a friendly and supportive work environment, a good work/life

*Required skills:*

  * Excellent and proven communication skills (both oral and written) in
    English and French;
  * Solid writing, proof-reading and editing skills;
  * At least two years’ relevant work experience. A combination of
    education, experience and training could be considered as an
    equivalency;
  * Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently and with
    minimal supervision;
  * Effective interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with others,
    including volunteers;
  * Desktop publishing software such as the Adobe Creative Suite
    (InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop);
  * Social media applications, including Facebook, Google +, Flickr and
     Twitter;
  * Office system applications including Word, spreadsheets, graphics
    and databases.

*Assets:*

  * Demonstrated track record in fundraising and communications;
  * University degree or diploma in a relevant field of study;
  * Website editing applications, including HTML;
  * Experience in a volunteer organization.

The primary duties of the position include, but are not limited to:

 *Fundraising:*

  * Fundraising, program design and implementation;
  * Secure new sources of financial support from foundations,
    corporations, individuals and local community partners;
  * Identifying prospective donors and donor stewardship and relations;
  * Preparation of fundraising proposals and applications; and other
    materials;
  * Organize fund raising events;
  * Fundraising reports and record management;

 *Communications*

  * Develop and administer the CMS communications strategy and social
    media program;
  * Prepare CMS corporate communications, including annual reports,
    supported program reports, new and updated web pages, and
    promotional materials;
  * Coordination and preparation of the /CMS Notes/, a publication
    issued 6 times per year, including gathering content from volunteers
    and staff members, working with the Editor-in-Chief, and overseeing
    graphic design and layout;
  * Preparation of media releases and pro-actively obtain media input
    for the CMS programs/projects, and respond to media inquiries;
  * Maintenance and frequent posting to social media;
  * Editing formal communications and letters in English and French.
