Submissions to Notes from the Margin

The CMS Student Committee (Studc) would like to invite you to submit an article for the Notes from the Margin. The next print edition is due to come out in early Spring 2018, but we are excited to present the new Notes from the Margin blog [https://studc.math.ca/?page_id=1038], which will complement but not replace the semi-annual print publication.

We are accepting opinion pieces, math-related stories, concise research-related articles, as well as puzzles and riddles for the Distractions page. We accept articles written in both English and French.

Both the Margin print publication and blog feature articles which are intended for a wide audience and should be accessible to all those in the mathematical community starting from the second/third year undergraduates. The blog can be found here [https://studc.math.ca/?page_id=1038], and posts a new student article every month, either in English or French. The semi-annual publication is delivered electronically to virtually all the Canadian undergraduate and graduate math students. In addition, the hard copies of the Margin are sent to the math departments of all the Canadian universities. For our most recent issues, check out our Issuu page [https://issuu.com/cms-studc].

We invite submissions year-round, but the submission deadline to be considered for the next print edition is January 31, 2018.

Le comité étudiant de la SMC vous invite à soumettre un article pour la revue Notes from the Margin. La prochaine revue imprimée sera publiée au printemps 2018, mais c’est avec beaucoup d’excitation que nous vous présentons le nouveau blogue de Notes from the Margin [https://studc.math.ca/?page_id=1042], qui complémentera, sans toutefois remplacer, la revue biannuelle imprimée.

Nous acceptons des articles d'opinion, des récits mathématiques, des articles concis sur la recherche en mathématiques, ainsi que des puzzles et des charades pour notre page de distractions. Nous acceptons les articles écrits en français ou en anglais.

Notes from the Margin est une publication qui comporte des articles destinés à un grand public et doivent être accessibles à tous les membres de la communauté mathématique à partir du niveau deuxième ou troisième année du baccalauréat. Le blogue se trouve ici [https://studc.math.ca/?page_id=1042], on publie un nouvel article à chaque mois, soit en français ou en anglais. La publication biannuelle est livrée électroniquement à presque tous membres étudiants de la communauté universitaire du Canada. De plus, des copies imprimées sont envoyées aux départements de mathématiques de toutes les universités canadiennes. Nous vous invitons à soumettre vos idées d’article tout au long de l’année, mais la date limite pour les soumissions pour la revue imprimée suivante est le 31 janvier 2018.
