Position # 20917 CLT – The Department of Mathematics and Statistics seeks to fill a 9.5-month contractually limited position at the rank of Assistant Professor effective August 15, 2017. The successful candidate should hold a PhD in Mathematics or have equivalent education and work experience in mathematics education. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience teaching introductory University mathematics courses.

The Department seeks a dynamic individual, who has a strong commitment to teaching. Duties for the position include teaching five courses over two semesters. This will include at least three sections of introductory calculus (e.g. Math 1013: Introductory Calculus I, Math 1023: Introductory Calculus II). The multiple sections of first year calculus courses at Acadia are taught in coordination with each other, and the successful candidate will also be required to attend weekly coordinating meetings. The Department is engaged in a multi-year project to re-design the calculus sequence around identified course learning objectives and curricular goals. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to receive mentoring in calculus instruction or to contribute to the calculus re-design project, depending on interest and experience. The other two courses will be assigned depending on the Department’s needs and the candidate’s background. These could include pre- calculus courses (Math 0110, Math 0120), first year courses (Math 1613: General linear algebra and calculus for business and economics, Math 1323 Matrix Algebra), or senior level courses (Math 3713: Ordinary Differential Equations II). The successful applicant will also contribute to the service activities of the Department.
