Chers collègues et participants,

J'ai le plaisir de vous annoncer que le Huitième atelier de résolution de
problèmes industriels de Montréal se tiendra au Centre de recherches
mathématiques du 7 au 11 août 2017. Voici le site de l'atelier.

Comme pour les sept premiers ateliers, nous proposons aux participants
(professeurs, représentants industriels et étudiants) d'examiner et de
résoudre des problèmes soumis par des entreprises. Les problèmes de cette
année, dont les descriptions se trouvent maintenant sur le site,
proviennent de domaines divers: mathématiques financières, optimisation de
tournées, traitement de la langue naturelle, modélisation et simulation,
imagerie médicale et hydrologie.

L'atelier de 2017 est organisé conjointement avec l'Institut Fields, le
PIMS et l'INCASS. Comme en 2015 et 2016, l'atelier s'inscrit dans le cadre
de la Plateforme d'innovation des instituts, un projet des trois instituts
canadiens de mathématiques financé par le CRSNG et ayant pour but de
susciter des collaborations entre les entreprises et les chercheurs
universitaires en sciences mathématiques. Les renseignements concernant
l'inscription et les demandes d'aide financière sont disponibles sur le
site de l'atelier.

L'atelier de Montréal sera précédé d'un atelier de modélisation pour
étudiants des cycles supérieurs qui aura lieu à Winnipeg.

The Eighth Montreal Industrial Problem Solving Workshop will take place at
the Centre de recherches mathématiques on August 7-11, 2017. Here is the

As was the case for the first seven IPSWs, the participants (professors,
industrial representatives, and students) will study and solve concrete
problems proposed by various companies. The problem descriptions are now
on the workshop web site and come from diverse areas: financial
mathematics, routing, natural language processing, modelling and
simulation, medical imaging, and hydrology.

The 2017 workshop is organized jointly with the Fields Institute, PIMS,
and CANSSI. As in 2015 and 2016 the workshop is sponsored by the
Institutes Innovation Platform, an endeavour of the three Canadian
mathematics institutes that is financed by NSERC and was created to
initiate and foster collaborations between industry and researchers in the
mathematical sciences. Information on registration and financial support
is available on the workshop web site.

The Montreal workshop will take place immediately after a Graduate Math
Modelling in Industry Workshop, to be held in Winnipeg.
