Order of Canada Honours Nassif Ghoussoub

Dr. Nassif Ghoussoub has been appointed as an officer to the Order of Canada, one of this country's highest civilian honours.

Ghoussoub is the founder and Scientific Director of the Banff International Research Station (BIRS) and a professor of mathematics at the University of British Columbia. He was also the founder of the Pacific Institute for Mathematical Sciences (PIMS) and a co-founder of Mathematics of Information Technology and Complex Systems (MITACS).

Ghoussoub is a world leader in the field of partial differential equations and has played a critical role in building Canadian networks for the support of education and research in mathematical sciences.
