Deputy Director - Scientific Programs at the CRM 

MONTRÉAL, July 2, 2015 /CRM/ - The Centre de recherches mathématiques (CRM) is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Louigi Addario-Berry as Deputy Director - Scientific Programs. His mandate began on July 1, 2015. Professor Addario-Berry will be joining the Management Committee of the CRM, which includes Professor Luc Vinet (CRM Director), Professor Galia Dafni (Concordia), Deputy Director – Publications, and Professor Odile Marcotte (UQAM and GERAD), Deputy Director - Partnerships.

Louigi Addario-Berry is an associate professor at McGill University. His research is focused on combinatorial and discrete probability. He received his doctorate from McGill University in 2006, jointly in mathematics/statistics and computer science. He then held a Marie Curie Research Fellowship at the University of Oxford and an assistant professorship at the Université de Montréal, before returning to McGill in 2009. 

During 2014-2015, Mr. Addario-Berry held a Leverhulme Visiting Professorship at the University of Oxford and a Simons Fellowship at the Newton Institute, University of Cambridge. He had previously held visiting positions at the École Normale Supérieure de Lyon and at École Polytechnique, Université Paris-Saclay. 

He joins the Management Committee of the CRM just after completing a 2-year term as the Québec vice-president of the Canadian Mathematical Society.

The Centre de recherches mathématiques (CRM), established in Montreal in 1968, is an institute of international reputation. It promotes research in the mathematical sciences, in the broad sense, spanning pure mathematics (for example number theory or geometry), applied mathematics, statistics, theoretical physics, computer science, mathematical biology, economics, industrial mathematics, etc. This research impacts many aspects of human activity in areas as diverse as public health, finance, climatology, social networks, medical imaging, transportation, and so on. The CRM encompasses thirteen Laboratories of Canadian researchers covering a wide array of fields. MONTRÉAL, le 2 juillet 2015 /CRM/ - Le Centre de recherches mathématiques (CRM) est heureux d’annoncer la nomination de M. Louigi Addario-Berry au poste de directeur adjoint - programmes scientifiques. Son mandat a débuté le 1er juillet 2015. M. Addario-Berry se joint au Comité de direction du CRM, qui inclut aussi le professeur Luc Vinet (directeur du CRM) et les professeures Galia Dafni (Concordia), directrice adjointe – publications et Odile Marcotte (UQAM et GERAD), directrice adjointe – partenariats.

Louigi Addario-Berry est professeur agrégé à l'Université McGill. Ses intérêts de recherche sont principalement en probabilité combinatoire et discrète. Il a obtenu son doctorat de l'Université McGill, conjointement du département de mathématiques et de statistique et de l'école d'informatique. Il fut ensuite boursier Marie Curie à l'Université d'Oxford et professeur adjoint à l'Université de Montréal, avant de retourner à McGill en 2009. 

Pendant l'année 2014-2015, M. Addario-Berry fut titulaire de la chaire Leverhulme pour professeur invité à l'Université d'Oxford et d'une chaire Simons à l'Institut Newton de l'Université de Cambridge. Il avait auparavant fait des séjours comme chercheur invité à l'École Normale Supérieure de Lyon et à l'École Polytechnique (Université Paris-Saclay). 

Il se joint au Comité de direction du CRM alors que son mandat à titre du vice-président pour le Québec de la Société Mathématique du Canada vient de se terminer.
