Joint Position in Mathematics and Education



The Department of Mathematics & Statistics in conjunction with the Faculty of Education at the University of Winnipeg invites applications for a three-year joint Instructor position at a rank commensurate with experience. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to the teaching of mathematics, as well as strong interests in mathematics education and the training of future teachers. The candidate will be required to work closely with the Faculty of Education and the Department of Mathematics and Statistics.



Candidates must have successfully taught undergraduate mathematics courses in a university mathematics department, or undergraduate mathematics education courses, or have experience teaching K-12 mathematics. The candidate must have completed or be in the process of completing an MSc or MA in Mathematics or a Masters in Mathematics Education. Preference will be given to candidates who have already obtained at least one of these degrees. The effective date of appointment will be August 1, 2014.



Applicants should submit a letter outlining their suitability for the position, a curriculum vitae and a teaching dossier, which includes a description of the applicant's teaching philosophy and evidence of quality teaching such as student course evaluations and, if possible, evidence of scholarship in mathematics or mathematics education to Professor Dwight Vincent at matheducation at uwinnipeg.ca by February 7, 2014. The candidate should also arrange to have three reference letters sent to this address as well.
