The Statistical Society of Canada (SSC) is proud to announce the winners 
of three of its awards for this year.  The winners of these awards will 
be giving talks at the SSC Annual Meeting which will take place May 
26-29, 2013 in Edmonton.  The remaining SSC Awards will be announced at 
the opening session of the Annual Meeting on the morning of May 27.

The CRM-SSC Prize in Statistics is awarded annually by the Centre de 
recherches mathématiques (Montréal) and the Statistical Society of 
Canada, to recognize a statistical scientist's professional 
accomplishments in research during the first fifteen years after earning 
a doctorate.  This year's winner is Derek Bingham, Simon Fraser

The Pierre Robillard Award is awarded annually by the SSC to recognize 
the best Ph.D. thesis in probability or statistics defended at a 
Canadian university during the previous year.  This year's winner is 
Luke Bornn, University of British Columbia, currently Assistant 
Professor at Harvard University.  You will find further information at

The Canadian Journal of Statistics Award is awarded annually by the SSC 
to the author(s) of an article published in the previous year in the 
Journal, in recognition of the outstanding quality of the paper's 
methodological innovation and presentation.  This year's winners are 
Zhong Guan (Indiana University South Bend), Jing Qin (National Institute 
of Allergy and Infectious Diseases), and Biao Zhang (University of 
Toledo), for their paper titled "Information borrowing methods for 
covariate-adjusted ROC curve" (Volume 40, no. 3, pp. 569-587).  Jing Qin 
will present the paper in Edmonton.  For more information, consult

La Société statistique du Canada (SSC) est fière d'annoncer les 
récipiendaires de trois de ses prix pour cette année.  Ils présenteront 
leurs travaux lors du Congrès annuel de la SSC qui aura lieu du 26 au 29

Le Prix Pierre-Robillard est décerné chaque année par la SSC pour 
souligner la meilleure thèse doctorale en probabilité ou statistique 
soutenue dans une université canadienne au cours de l'année. Cette 
année, le récipiendaire est Luke Bornn de l'Université de la 
Colombie-Britannique, maintenant professeur adjoint à l'Université

Le Prix de La revue canadienne de statistique est décerné chaque année 
par la SSC à l'auteur / aux auteurs d'un article publié l'année 
précédente dans la Revue, en reconnaissance de la qualité exceptionnelle 
de l'innovation méthodologique et de la présentation de l'article. Cette 
année, les récipiendaires sont Zhong Guan (Indiana University South
