*Research Assistant Position in mathematical modelling*

Centre for Optimization and Decision Science (CODS) of Thompson Rivers 
University is looking for research assistant to work on NSERC industrial 
project. The expected start date is
April, 2013 and the initial contract will be 4-6 months, with possible 
extension depending on the approval of future funding proposal.

*Position Description:
*CODS is seeking talented graduate student with solid theoretical 
backgrounds who are interested in applying their knowledge to improve 
the efficiency of industrial operations and to develop benchmark for 
energy conservation.

*Required Qualifications:
*. Senior Master student or Ph. D candidate in Optimization, Math 
modelling, Statistics, Operations Research or Equivalent Experience
. Experience implementing algorithms in C/C++, Matlab, optimization 
software etc
. Excellent critical thinking, analysis, and problem solving
. Excellent written & verbal communication
. Ability to work in a team environment and industrial environment
. Self motivated, proactive, flexible and passionate about learning

*Desired Qualifications:
*. Experience in combinatorial algorithms and discrete optimization
. Experience in energy conservation
. Background or knowledge in mining industry
. Interest in real world applications of algorithms

Centre of Optimization and Decision Science (CODS) is a research centre
