Dear Colleagues, Chers Collegues,

[French summary, English text follows] Le prochain congres international
nominations.

The Adhering Organizations of the International Mathematical Union
have been invited to nominate invited plenary and sectional speakers at
the International Congress of Mathematicians, which will be held in Seoul,
Korea, from August 13 to 21, 2014.

The CMS will be working together with CAIMS and the SSC to prepare a list
of nominations which will be submitted to the the Chair of the Program
Committee for ICM 2014, Carlos Kenig.

At this stage, the Research Committee and the International Affairs
Committee of the CMS would like to invite the members of the Canadian
Mathematical Sciences community for suggestions of names of plenary and
sectional speakers. Each nomination should be in the form of a one page
summary giving a scientific justification for the nomination.
Nomineesshould have had recent contributions that have had or are likely
to have a very significant impact on the discipline. The nominations
should be sent by March 31st, 2012, to the undersigned, Lia Bronsard,
Chair of the Research Committee of the CMS, bronsard at mcmaster.ca, and Niky
Kamran, Chair of the International Affairs Committee of the CMS,
nkamran at math.mcgill.ca.

The list of the ICM 2014 sections is given at .
http://www.mathunion.org/fileadmin/IMU/AO/2012/IMU_AO_CL_2_2012.pdf

When you make nominations for speakers, please specify whether you suggest
them as plenary speakers or section speakers. In case of proposals
of section speakers please indicate to which sections you would like the
persons to be invited.

Please note that the IMU maintains a data base of all previous plenary and
invited ICM speakers. This can be found on the following
Web page:

A general rule with only a few exceptions is that a mathematician is
invited at most once to speak.

Thank you very much for your participation in this important effort.

Best regards,

Cordialement,

Lia Bronsard, Chair of the Research Committee of the CMS,
bronsard at mcmaster.ca
Niky Kamran, Chair of the International Affairs Committee of the CMS.
