Assistant or Associate Professor in Applied Mathematics and Theoretical
Physics

 

The Department of Applied Mathematics (www.apmaths.uwo.ca) invites
applications for a probationary (tenure track) faculty position in the area
of theoretical physics at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The
successful candidate will also be appointed as an Associate Faculty member
of the Perimeter Institute (www.perimeterinstitute.ca). Areas of interest to
the Department and to the Perimeter Institute include condensed matter
physics, astrophysics, cosmology, gravitational physics and particle
physics. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Physics or Applied Mathematics and
at least one-year's postdoctoral experience (or equivalent). The successful
candidate will be expected to develop an independent, externally funded
research program in an area of theoretical physics, and contribute to the
graduate and undergraduate degree programs in the Department of Applied
Mathematics. The Department of Applied Mathematics and the Faculty of
Science provide a research intensive environment, including state-of-the-art
computational facilities (www.sharcnet.ca). An important goal for this
position is the further integration of research activities at Western
University and the Perimeter Institute, and the successful candidate will be
expected to spend significant amounts of time in both locations.

 

Consideration of applications will begin on March 12, 2012 and continue
until the position is filled. The starting date for the position is July 1,
