The Institut des Sciences Mathématiques (ISM) will hold a winter school next
January 6-8, aimed at finishing undergraduate and Masters students who
intend to further their mathematical training. About 50 students will be
formally invited from outside Québec, expenses covered up to 500$ including
accommodation, to discover the unique academic network developed over the
years through the ISM.

For students this is an excellent opportunity to hear great lectures about
various areas of reseach in pure and applied mathematics, meet fellow
students from many north american institutions and to find out about the
many opportunities for graduate studies offered by the 8 universities
forming ISM network. Speakers will include S. Boyer (Geometry and Topology,
UQAM), M. Bertola (Mathematical Physics, Concordia), T. Bürstle (Algebra,
Bishop's and Sherbrooke), A. Granville (Number theory, U. de Montréal), T.
Ransford (Analysis, U. Laval), C. Reutenauer (Combinatorics, UQAM) and R.
Seiringer (Applied mathematics, McGill).

To apply, students should send supporting material (curriculum vitae, latest
academic transcript, mathematical areas of interest and short letter of

Attention : étudiants intéressés par les études aux cycles supérieurs en
Mathématiques au Canada et aux E.U.

Sujet : Inscription à l'École d'hiver ISM

L'institut des Sciences Mathématiques (ISM) organise une école d'hiver du 6
au 8 Janvier prochain s'adressant spécifiquement aux finissants de
programmes de premier cycle et Maîtrise en mathématiques qui considèrent la
possibilité de poursuivre leurs études. Environ 50 étudiants de l'extérieur
du Québec seront formellement invités, frais de déplacement payés jusqu'à
500$ incluant l'hébergement, pour découvrir le réseau académique unique
développé au fil des ans à travers l'ISM.

Pour les étudiants il s'agit d'une excellente opportunité d'assister à des
exposés de qualité portant sur divers domaines de recherche en mathématiques
pures et appliquées, de rencontrer de nombreux autres étudiants provenant de
diverses institutions nord-américaines et d'en apprendre sur les nombreuses
possibilités d'études aux cycles supérieurs offertes par les 8 universités
formant le réseau ISM. Parmi les conférenciers on retrouve S. Boyer
