Israel Halperin Prize

The Israel Halperin Prize was awarded to ANDREW TOMS
of York University.  He was cited for several outstanding
contributions to the classification program of amenable C*-algebras.
The award was made at the 38th annual Canadian Operator
Algebra Symposium, held at the University of New Brunswick
in Fredericton in June, 2010.

The Israel Halperin Prize is awarded every five years
for outstanding work in operator algebras or operator theory
to members of the Canadian mathematical community who are
within ten years of receipt of their doctorate.  Previous
winners were Guihua Gong and Alexandru Nica (2000),
Nigel Higson (1995), Ian Putnam (1990), 
Kenneth Davidson and David Handelman (1985),
and Man-Duen Choi (1980).
