The Canadian Mathematical Society (CMS) is pleased to announce that Bálint
Virág from the University of Toronto is the recipient of the
<http://www.cms.math.ca/Prizes/info/cj> 2010 Coxeter-James Prize in
recognition of an outstanding research contribution by a young
mathematician. Bálint Virág will receive his award at the Society’s June
4-6,  <http://www.cms.math.ca/Events/summer10/> 2010 Summer Meeting in
Fredericton, New Brunswick. 

The Coxeter-James Prize was inaugurated to recognize
<http://www.cms.math.ca/Prizes/recip?id=CJ> young mathematicians who have
made outstanding contributions to mathematical research. The first award was
presented in 1978. The award is named, in part, for Donald Coxeter, the
seventh CMS President who is considered one of the great geometers of the
20th century. The award is also named, in part, after Ralph Duncan James,
the fifth CMS President who diligently promoted the development of
mathematics.

Virág de l’Université de Toronto est lauréat du

la contribution exceptionnelle d’un jeune mathématicien à la recherche.
Bálint Virág recevra son prix au cours de
<http://www.cms.math.ca/Reunions/ete10> la rencontre d’été de la Société du
4 au 6 juin 2010 à Fredericton, au Nouveau-Brunswick. 

Le prix Coxeter-James a été inauguré afin de souligner la
<http://www.cms.math.ca/Prix/recip?id=CJ> contribution exceptionnelle de
jeunes mathématiciens qui se sont démarqués dans le domaine de la recherche
en mathématique. Décerné pour la première fois en 1978, le prix porte, d’une
part, le nom de Donald Coxeter, septième président de la SMC et celui qu’on
considère comme l’un des grands géomètres du XXe siècle. Le prix porte
également le nom de Ralph Duncan James, cinquième président de la SMC, qui
s’est affairé assidûment à promouvoir le développement des mathématiques.
