ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN STATISTICS
DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER AND MATHEMATICAL SCIENCES
UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO SCARBOROUGH
The Department of Computer and Mathematical Sciences, University of
Toronto Scarborough, invites applications for a tenure-stream position in
Statistics at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin July 1, 2009.
We are interested in candidates with research expertise in Applied
Statistics, including Biostatistics, Machine Learning, Statistical
Applications in Finance and Risk Management, and Statistical Genetics.
Candidates should have, or be about to receive, a PhD in Statistics or a
related field. They must demonstrate ability to pursue innovative
research at the highest level as well as a strong commitment to
undergraduate and graduate teaching. Salary will be commensurate with
qualifications and experience.
The University of Toronto is an international leader in Statistics
research and education. The prestigious COPSS Award, the highest
international research honour in statistics, has been awarded to resident
Canadians only three times; and all of these were at the University of
Toronto. The department enjoys strong ties to other units within the
University, and the successful candidate for this position will be
expected to participate actively in the Graduate Department of Statistics
at the University of Toronto.
