Reinsurance Actuarial Analyst (Bermuda)

The D. E. Shaw group seeks a talented individual to join its reinsurance 
business in Bermuda.  The Reinsurance Actuarial Analyst will play an 
integral role in establishing and growing the reinsurance strategy and 
will be involved in quantitative data analysis and model development.

Responsibilities:

*	model expected profitability and risk on a per-contract and 
portfolio basis, using a combination of vendor and proprietary tools and 
techniques
*	assist underwriting team with pricing and risk analyses for 
submissions
*	maintain overall data integrity for the business
*	work with counterparties and vendors to validate model assumptions 
and inputs
*	contribute to ongoing development of analytical tools

General Qualifications:

*	thorough understanding of probabilistic and statistical concepts 
and reasoning used in risk analysis for reinsurance
*	undergraduate degree in mathematics, statistics, or another 
quantitative field
*	proven ability to work independently
*	excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail

The successful candidate will also fulfill two of the following three
qualifications:
*	part-qualified actuary designation
*	minimum three years of reinsurance industry experience
*	minimum two years of experience using RMS or AIR software for 
catastrophe modeling
