SUN LIFE FINANCIAL TO BECOME TITLE SPONSOR OF CANADIAN MATHEMATICAL 
SOCIETY'S CANADIAN OPEN MATHEMATICS CHALLENGE

The Canadian Mathematical Society (CMS) and Sun Life Financial (TSX, 
NYSE: SLF), a leading international financial services organization, 
announced today that Sun Life has agreed to become the Title Sponsor 
of the Sun Life Financial Canadian Open Mathematics Challenge (COMC).

The COMC, started in 1996, is an annual competition for high school 
students. This year's COMC will take place on November 21, 2007. In 
2006, more than 7,300 students from over 500 schools participated. The 
COMC is for senior level students and motivates younger students who 
are looking for a mathematics enrichment challenge. The competition 
provides training and encouragement for students across Canada. The 
top students from the COMC are invited to write the Canadian 
Mathematical Olympiad (CMO). The six students who represent Canada at 
the annual International Mathematical Olympiad are selected on the 
basis of their results in the CMO and other national and international 
mathematics competitions.
