  Cet atelier d'une semaine réunira des représentants de l'industrie,  
des chercheurs universitaires, des étudiants des cycles supérieurs et  
des stagiaires postdoctoraux. Il est organisé par le Centre de  
recherches mathématiques, en collaboration avec le GERAD, le CRT  
(Centre de recherche sur les transports) et le rcm2, et est parrainé  
par le réseau de centres d'excellence MITACS (Mathematics of  
Information Technology and Complex Systems). Les participants  
formeront des équipes dont chacune analysera un problème fourni par  
une compagnie ou un organisme public ou parapublic. Les buts  
principaux de l'atelier sont de donner à des compagnies ou organismes  
des outils mathématiques de résolution de problèmes, et de permettre  
à des chercheurs universitaires en mathématiques appliquées  
d'examiner des problèmes concrets.

First Montreal Industrial Problem Solving Workshop

August 20-24 2007

  The goal of this one-week workshop is to gather industry  
representatives, academic researchers, graduate students and  
postdoctoral fellows to work on concrete problems proposed by the  
industry. The workshop is organized by the Centre de recherches  
mathématiques, along with GERAD, the (CRT) (Centre for Research on  
Transportation) and ncm2, and is sponsored by the MITACS network of  
centres of excellence. The participants will work in teams, and each  
team will analyse a problem supplied by a company or a public sector  
institution. The workshop will provide companies and institutions  
with mathematical tools for solving problems, and will enable  
academic researchers in applied mathematics to work on real-world  
problems.
