					CRM-ISM POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS 2007-2008

The Institut des sciences mathématiques (ISM) and the Centre de  
recherches mathématiques (CRM) invite applications for their joint  
postdoctoral fellowship program starting in September 2007.

CRM-ISM postdoctoral fellowships are awarded to promising researchers  
who have  recently obtained or expect to obtain a Ph.D. in the  
mathematical sciences. The fellowship offers an annual stipend of at  
least $36,000 CDN for one year, and is renewable for a second year.  
This is a research fellowship, allowing the recipient to devote all  
of his or her  time to research under the supervision of a professor  
from one of the ISM member universities (Concordia, Laval, McGill,  
Sherbrooke, Université de Montréal and UQAM). If fellows wish to  
teach, they may request to be offered teaching  assignments for which  
they will receive an additional salary.

Applications are welcome in all fields of research in which the CRM  
and the ISM are actively involved, namely: algebra, analysis, applied  
mathematics, category theory, combinatorics, geometry and topology,  
mathematical physics, nonlinear dynamics, number theory, probability,  
quantum computing, statistics, and mathematical methods in medical  
imaging. Note that in 2007-08, the CRM's theme year will be in  
Dynamics from both an applied and pure point of view. The first  
semester will be on dynamical systems applied mainly to delay  
equations and biology, while the second semester will concentrate on  
Hamiltonian and non-Hamiltonian dynamical systems, evolution  
equations, and spectral analysis.

						BOURSES POSTDOCTORALES CRM-ISM 2007-2008

Le Centre de recherches mathématiques (CRM) et l'Institut des  
sciences mathématiques (ISM) sollicitent des candidatures dans le  
cadre de leur programme conjoint de bourses postdoctorales débutant  
en septembre 2007.

Les bourses postdoctorales CRM-ISM sont attribuées à des chercheurs  
prometteurs qui ont récemment obtenu, ou qui obtiendront sous peu,  
leur doctorat en mathématiques. La bourse offre une rémunération d'au  
moins 36 000$ CDN pour un an, renouvelable pour une deuxième année.  
Cette bourse de recherche permettra à son bénéficiaire de consacrer  
la majeure partie de son temps à ses travaux de recherche sous la  
supervision d'un professeur appartenant à l'une des universités  
membres de l'ISM (Concordia, Laval, McGill, Sherbrooke, Université de  
Montréal et UQAM). Si le boursier le désire, il pourra enseigner  
durant son stage et ainsi recevoir une rémunération supplémentaire.

Nous acceptons des demandes dans tous les domaines de recherche du  
CRM et de l'ISM, à savoir:  algèbre, analyse, combinatoire, dynamique  
non-linéaire, géométrie et topologie, informatique quantique,  
mathématiques appliquées, méthodes mathématiques en imagerie  
médicale, physique mathématique, probabilités, statistique, théorie  
des catégories, et théorie des nombres. Notez que l'année thématique  
2007-2008 du CRM portera sur la dynamique, avec un volet appliqué et  
un volet pur. Le premier semestre sera dédié aux systèmes dynamiques  
appliqués surtout aux équations à délai et à la biologie, tandis que  
le deuxième semestre portera sur les systèmes dynamiques hamiltoniens  
et non-hamiltoniens, aux équations d'évolution et à l'analyse spectrale.
