MITACS - PIMS Special Program on Infectious Diseases
Banff International Research Station    
June 19, 2004 - July 2, 2004

There is going to be a MITACS - PIMS  Special Program on Infectious
Diseases June 19 - July 2, 2004 at the Banff International
Research Station in Banff, Alberta. The program consists of a graduate
summer school (for graduate students and beginning postdoctoral fellows)
June 19 - June 27 followed by a research conference June 28 - July 2.
The school will include lectures on deterministic and stochastic
compartmental models, statistical issues, parameter identification,
models with age structure, age of infection structure, spatial
structure, and social structure, case studies, as well as problems,
computational work, and small group projects.

Students should have a background in undergraduate mathematics, normally
including ordinary differential equations, linear algebra, and some 
probability and statistics, as well as some computational skills.

for details of the lecture schedule, financial support, accommodation,
and application procedure. To apply, students should fill out the 
on - line application form and submit this form electronically.
Applicants are also responsible for arranging to have a letter of
reference from their supervisor submitted electronically.

Capacity is strictly limited and the deadline for applications is
February 29, 2004. Decisions will be made in early March 2004 
and if there are spaces left applications received after February 29
will also be considered.
