[cmath] Tenure-Track Instructor Position - University of British Columbia, Department of Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics at the University of British Columbia 
invites applications for a tenure-track Instructor I position.

The successful candidate must have a record of excellent teaching of 
mathematics at the undergraduate level, and should have a PhD in 
mathematics (MSc considered in exceptional circumstances).  Excellent 
organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills are required. 
Candidates with experience in computer and online tools for teaching 
mathematics are particularly encouraged to apply.  A description of the 
nature of an Instructor I appointment, and the criteria for achieving 
tenure are available at

The main responsibilities of the position are:
- teaching first-year mathematics courses
- development of curriculum and innovative teaching methodologies for
   mathematics courses, especially in lower level courses

Additional responsibilities will include one or more of the following:
- participation in the Carl Wieman Science  Education Initiative
- facilitating the learning and teaching of mathematics
- teaching courses taught by the Mathematics Department for prospective
   elementary and high-school mathematics teachers;
- participation in team-teaching opportunities
- administration related to undergraduate students
